Public-private partnership helps entrepreneurs close the gap between concept and collateral.
A unique, public-private partnership launched on Aug. 1 gives Metropolitan State University of 丹佛-affiliated 业务 owners access to the financial and 业务-savvy support they need to make their small 业务es successful.
In collaboration with nonprofit small 业务 lender 大草原玫瑰开发公司, 高山银行 and 密歇根州立大学丹佛 developed a loan 程序 for University-affiliated 业务es, providing access to capital and financial products to help them launch or grow.
“This 程序 has been several years in the making,查理·克什瓦尔说, president of 高山银行 Front Range Business Development and 密歇根州立大学丹佛 Foundation Board member. “It will allow us to support our community in a way that makes a difference.”
Kercheval says that by leveraging capital provided by the 密歇根州立大学丹佛 Foundation, they can create loans that drive the economy, giving new 业务es a chance to succeed and enabling people to start 业务es. The total amount of loans will not exceed $250,000, with individual loans ranging from $5,000-$50,000.
密歇根州立大学丹佛-affiliated 业务es are 合资格申请 for the loan 程序 when individuals connected with the University hold 50% or more of the ownership interest, 包括:
- Students enrolled at 密歇根州立大学丹佛 with good academic standing, who have earned at least 90 credit hours, with a minimum of 30 credit hours earned at the University.
- 获得B的个人.A., B.S., master’s degree or Entrepreneurship Certificate from 密歇根州立大学丹佛 or completed the University’s 发射丹佛 程序.
- 密歇根州立大学丹佛 faculty and staff members employed by the University for at least one year.
The 程序 will live in the 商学院’s 创业中心 and be overseen by the first recipient of the Kemper Family Foundation Endowed Chair, 大卫Bechtold, 管理学副教授.

Kercheval says working with the University to establish the 程序 has been rewarding and, depending on its level of success, could extend beyond the current two-year trial period.
